The kuripe is a traditional ceremonial tool used by indigenous peoples of the Amazon and also adopted by shamans in the Andean region. It is a V-shaped applicator, generally handmade from natural materials such as chonta wood, palo santo, bamboo, bone, or cane. The kuripe is used for the self-application of rapé (also called hapeh), a ceremonial powder made from Amazonian plants. Handmade by Peruvian artisans in Cusco.
